Hello! Catherine Gatewood here. As most of you have probably already heard the Troop Committee has asked me to take the position of Scoutmaster and I have accepted.                                                                     Troop 39 has within it a remarkable amount of talent, spirit, and leadership. I look forward to working with the scouts and leaders to help provide the best environment for us to grow as individuals, Patrols, a Troop and especially in leadership  skills.                                                                              The adult leadership has established several goals for the Troop. First and foremost we plan to implement the Patrol method. Second, we plan to make sure our Scouts are proficient in their basic Scout skills. Third, we plan to provide an outing/camping opportunity each month. We are also going to provide serivce opportunities since Scouting is a service organization.                                                                    To help with implementation of the Patrol method the Troop will be holding a Junior Leader Training session Nov. 5-7 at Camp Hood. It is very important to the success of the Troop and to the development of each Leader and Scouts'  leadership skills that we have as close to 100% participation as possible. This is a team building exercise and every member of the team is important.                                                                                                                                                                                 Okay, this was clearly longer than a "minute" but there was certainly a lot of ground to cover.
